Poweredge T310 power supply failure

Came in this morning to a dead server. There are two power supplies -- one appears to be down. When unplugging and replugging, the light on the power supply goes green and fan kicks on for few seconds, then goes yellow and dies again.

I've pulled the power supply out -- any advice on quick repairs? Or quickly replacing it in the SF bay area?

V-Link81,

It sounds like you may have lost one of the power supplies.Yet the server should remain online, unless you have the 375w non redundant power supplies. Are you getting any errors, if so what are the specifically? Also, have you tried a different source for the AC cable, just to verify that it isn't the source?

If you have the redundant power supplies then I would recommend taking the server to the Minimum To Post configuration. Which is removing everything but the following;

  • CPU
  • System board
  • Heatsink for CPU for prevention of over-heating
  • PSU (and for redundant PSU also the PDB)
  • Front panel (to power system on)
  • One memory DIMM

Lastly, is this server under warranty still?

Let me know.
