Poweredge T320 system board inlet temp not available

Poweredge T320 in iDRAC7, it shows system board inlet temp information not available.  iDRAC and BIOS are up to date.  Any idea what could be the problem?  System board HW problem?

Hello greypoint01,

Thank you for choosing Dell. I am sorry you faced this problem.

Can I clarify, when the problem started or maybe what caused an issue? Have any updates, part replacement or changing in configuration been made before?

I would like to check system logs for temperature and thermal component failures. Could you please gather and send them me in  Private Message?

Here you can find an instruction, how to gather logs from iDRAC:

Please ask me if you have any questions,

Hello greypoint01,

To send a private message, first make sure you are logged in.

Click her name, in her post,  next to Mod and click  Dell- Maria J

In the right hand column scroll to find:

Send this user a private message

I will let you know she is currently off shift so you can private message me also. Please send it to both of us.

If you haven't done this yet I'd recommend try, flea power drain and  reseat the control panel cable at the control panel side and system board side.

drain flea power (shut down, disconnect power cables and Network cables, hold in power button 20 seconds with cords removed).

Control panel  Page 101 : https://dl.dell.com/topicspdf/poweredge-t320_owners-manual_en-us.pdf

Are any errors in the System Event Log in the DRAC related to the temp sensor?

Are there any error on the front LEDs or error on LCD if you have that?

Please run the report after cable reseat steps so we have the latest information.

Alternately you can  upload the report here under your service tag.

https://upload.dell.com/

Then  Private message us your service tag when its uploaded so I can go check on it.

Hello greypoint01,

Thank you for TSR logs, you sent, Charles forwarded them to me. According information from logs, logs were gathered when server was turned off. Could you please write, does server complete POST? I would also recommend to follow troubleshooting steps, which Charles advised. Could you please followed them and after that gather logs from iDRAC one more time?

Please ask me, if you have any questions.

Server is running ok with Windows Server 2016.  It does complete POST and work without any problem. I did try drain flea power and reseat cable for control panel both ends.  It didn't help.  New log file is generated when system is running and uploaded.

I was able to review the report.

Did you see any cable or pin damage on the control panel cable or sockets?

If all that looks good then we're down to being the control panel, it has the sensor, the cable or mother board socket.

It looks like you have the LCD control panel. If that is correct these should be part numbers for you.

Control panel:

Pn#VN6CW - ASSY,PNL,CNTL,FRT,LCD,T420

Cable:

Pn#GKR14 - ASSY,CBL,INT,PNL,CNTL,T420

You can contact Spare Parts 800-357-3355 (US/Canada) and ask about purchase. If you are not in US/Canada then you can contact support in your region and ask for the Spare Parts department.
