Primary Redundant PSUs

Hi there,

we have 2 R630 servers with redundant PSUs powered by a Dell Smart UPS 3000. One of each servers' PSU is connected to the UPS, one to the normal grid power.

During power loss, the servers are shut down gracefully by PowerChute. When grid power returns, they already start up before the UPS provides power (before the Return Delay has run off). That means if another power loss occurs, they will be shut down hard.

How can I configure the servers to start only when power returns to the PSUs connected to the UPS? Can I somehow set a leading PSU here? The 'primary PSU' setting in iDRAC power configuration/hot spare doesn't do the thing.

Appreciate your help.

Doesn't the UPS/PowerChute have the option to only turn on the outlets when the power has returned for x minutes? That would then, in turn, trigger the auto-turn-on on the server.

Hi theflash1932,

thanks for your answer. However the problem is that the auto-turn on is already triggered by the return of the normal grid power supply. The system does not even reach at a UPS-steered turn-on, currently these UPS settings are useless. That is exactly what has to be changed. Since the UPS isn't involved here, it has to be some setting of the servers.
