R210 II PXE boot: no DHCP requests sent

We are trying to make one of our R210 II appliances to boot from our PXE server. The problem is that once we tell the machine to boot using PXE, it tries to find the PXE server but never sends out a DHCP request. We have confirmed this by running tcpdump on the router interface to which the machine is connected. Since it never gets an IP address, PXE does not work. Any suggestion as to how we can make the machine to request a DHCP lease?

By the way, we are running BIOS version 2.5.1. There have only been some PXE fixes in BIOS version of the 2.1.x branch.

Rjh2805,

Are other clients on the same subnet with R210 II getting IP addresses from the DHCP server? The fact that DHCP requests are not being sent does not necessarily mean that PXE is not working well. Let us first apply updates to BIOS which is currently at 2.8.0 and to your NIC firmware and drivers. These updates have recent code to PXE process.

Link to BIOS update is below here: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=VXJ66&fileId=3385722765&osCode=WS8R2&productCode=poweredge-r210-2&languageCode=EN&categoryId=BI
