R610 dont recognize all my disks.

Question

Hi guys, I need some help debuging a raid-disk issue with my r610 poweredge server.
I bougth 6 disk to full populate my server bays.
Disks layout (looking front pannel) is:

[disk1][disk3][disk5]
[disk2][disk4][disk6]

Disk 1 and 2 capacity is 500GB and belongs to VD1 , in Raid0.
Disk 3,4,5 and 6 capacity is 2T and belongs to VD0 in Raid5.

Problem is that , PERC system only shows 4 of 6 disk.
Tests:
If I remove disk 1 and 2 , then I can see disk 3-6 and can set VD0 Raid5.
If I remove disk 5,6 , then VD0 shows disk missing and can see ok VD1 Raid0.

It seems that I can not make work 6 disks.
What is the problem ?
- Neither on DRAC nor front led pannel interface can not see any alarm.
- I have two 500W power supplies and system load is 177W. (meassured on DRAC interface).

What else can I do/check ?

btw:
1 Disk are brand new.
2 Server is not in production yet.

What is the controller installed on the server?

What are the part numbers for the drives, so I may verify compatibility?

Is the server up to date on BIOS, iDrac, Raid controller, as well as drives?

I'm guessing you have a PERC 6/i and that you only have one SAS cable going from it to the backplane. The backplane likely has two SAS connectors and you'll need a second SAS cable connecting drives 4+ to the controller.

Is the server up to date on BIOS, iDrac, Raid controller, as well as drives?

fw package: 6.2.0-0013.
iDRAC: 1.54
Primary backplane firmware 1.07.
PXE 2.1 v1.1.1
Unified server configurator: 1.4.0.586.

Another issue is that it doesn't look like the 2TB drives are supported on the R610. Also, the server is really far behind in updates, I would recommend walking the server up to current on the BIOS, iDrac, and the Perc 6/i.

Chris is right, but more than that (sometimes 'unsupported' drives will work), the WD Blue (Black, Red, Green, Purple, etc.) are a terrible choice of drive for servers. You should be using server drives at a minimum, certified drives if the data/services are mission critical.

I think, upgrading the sistem is good idea.
Is there some documented proceadure about that ?

What are latest version my system can get? where can I download those drivers?
Is there a recomended or mandatory order to perform the update ?
Is there an easier or recomended way to do it ?

From lifecycle controller - Platform update - launch platform update - FTP server.
Only server field is filled with "ftp.dell.com"

It yelds "no update is available ... Ensure windows (R) catalog ....bla"

Should I go for "DRM" tool ? Can you point a starting point for this ?

Any advice about this would be welcome.
