R710 Largest Hot Swappable HD it will support
I have a Poweredge R710 with one of the hard drives in amber. I need to replaced this drive. However, I need to know whether I need to shut it down or if it is hot swappable. The server is running VMware. Kindly assist. Thanks

All R710's are hot-swap. You should swap it "hot".
If the drive doesn't automatically rebuild, then you will need to assign it as a hot-spare, and if it shows up as "foreign" you will need to clear the foreign configuration first.
You can do all this from OpenManage (if you have the ESXi VIB installed) or from the CTRL-R utility during POST.
