R710 memory upgrade

I upgraded my R710 from 1 CPU to 2 X5660 CPUs and 8  16GB memory Dimms

when i boot the CPUs look ok but the memory will only see 6 Dimms . The manual is a little confusing. can someone tell me which slots should be populated? thanks.

So you have 8 sticks in all?  You're going to need to populate them so they are matching across both sides.  The best way to do this with 8 sticks on these machines is starting from the outer banks(So the banks all the way to the left on the cpu on the left and the banks way to the right on the cpu to the right and going inwards towards the cpus) populate the first and second slot and then skip one and populate the fourth and fifth slot.  And do the same thing to the other side.

I agree. Install the memory in the first two channels that is in the slots A1, A4 (1st channel) and slots A2, A5 (2nd channel) - this is for the slots belonging to the first CPU. Use the same slot numbers for the second CPU also... that is B1,B4 and B2,B5.
