R810 Poweredge Memory Expansion
Our R810 has a single processor and came with 32GB (16 2GB) memory modules installed on A1-A8 and C1-C8. I wanted to expand the memory to 64GB. I bought 8 8GB modules. I first of all took out all the existing memory and put 4 8GB modules at A1,A2,C1,C2 and that worked OK. At that point, still had 32GB and seemed to accept the new memory. Then I added the other 4 8GB modules at A3,A4,C3,C4. Under Task Manager, it still says I have 32GB of memory. Under System Information it said I have 64 GB Installed Physical Memory and 32 GB Total Physical Memory. Am I limited to 32GB with 1 processor? I also get the "memory configuration not optimal" warning when I boot up. If I can expand beyond 32GB without installing additional processors, then how is it done? What memory configuration will work?

The BIOS version is 2.7.0
The OS is Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition x64 Service Pack 1
I will have to check that memory mode setting tonight after people are done for the day.

The memory banks are correctly populated. Yes, you can certainly expand your memory to above 32 GB with a single processor. Review your hardware logs for any memory issues.

The only memory related settings that I see in the BIOS:
System Memory Size: 64.0 GB
System Memory Type: ECC DDR3
System Memory Speed: 1067 MHz
System Memory Voltage: 1.5V
Video Memory: 8 MB
System Memory Testing: Enabled
Redundant Memory: Disabled
Node Interleaving: Disabled
Memory Operation Voltage: Auto
As I mentioned before, System Information says I have 64 GB installed and yet only 32 GB total memory.

Memory settings under the BIOS look fine and the BIOS version for your server ought to be at 2.9.0. However, the Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition x64 OS supports up to 32GB of memory regardless of the total amount of physical memory installed. In order for you to be able to expand your memory to 64GB or above, consider upgrading the OS. Please see link below for Windows memory limitation matrix:
