RAID 1 Degraded - The disk is not certified.

Hello,

I am changing the hard disk of the server blade M620, the disk use a RAID 1.

OpenManage of Dell shows me the that the disk is "Non certified" when I insert the disk, and the iDRAC doesn't detect the disk.

The current disk of the server is

And the new disk is

I don't understand what is the problem, Why the new disk was certified for Dell.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Hello

Both disks show as certified and are supported on the M620. My first guess would be that you have an issue with the slot. If that is the case then the other drive may not be faulty.

If the controller is not able to fully communicate or get certain information from the firmware on the drive then it will mark it as non-certified, and it may put it into a blocked state depending on how much communication is possible.

I suggest testing the drive in another slot if possible, and test another known good drive in the suspected faulty slot. Try to determine if the slot is functional with swap testing.

Thanks
