RAID Fail - New Disk - Clearing Foreign Configuration
System: Dell Poweredge R720xd with OMSA 7.2
One of the disks in a RAID 1 configuration failed. We are trying to replace the failed disk with a Dell certified disk (same size and RPM) that we took out from a Dell DAS. However, the disk is listed in OMSA as a Foreign Disk, and the operation fails when we try to do "Instant Encrypt Erase".
I've read that we may need to execute "Foreign Clear" operation to clean the disk in the Controller tasks first. However, only related option I see is "Foreign Configuration Operations" and I receive the message that there are no disks available to perform this operation.
Thank you very much in advance for your help...

Hi,
Can you private message me the service tag so we can get some additional information?
If you go to the controller and not the virtual disk and look at the available tasks there should be one to clear foreign config. You may also want to update OMSA. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=GYP4R
