Setting the hostname on idrac 8

We have idrac 8 installed on our servers. The hostnames are all 'idrac'. What are my options to change the HOSTNAME of the idrac? Is it just CTRL+E on a reboot? Would prefer to do it in the idrac gui! Thank you

Hello

You can change the DNS name in the GUI under iDRAC Settings>Network>Common Settings. You can change the title bar display name under iDRAC Settings>Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller. The manual for the iDRAC should be under the system support page, if not you can find it under the iDRAC support page.

If that is not what you are looking for let me know. If it is not available to change in the GUI then it may be modifiable via IPMI, local RACADM, or remote RACADM. The command line interface guides should be on the documentation pages linked above.

Thanks

I haven't figured out how to do it on the GUI, but that's how I ended up here though

My only solution is to run it via the command line currently: ssh root@ racadm config -g ifcRacManagedNodeOs -o ifcRacMnOsHostname

Some might end up here and wonder how about newer idracs. Well, like this: https://www.dell.com/community/Rack-Servers/How-to-change-system-name-in-iDRAC-4-40-00-00/m-p/7799881
