T310 - iDRAC6 - Reduce fan speed
Hi,
I just bought a T310 and the fan noise disturbs me a lot.
I updated iDRAC firmware and BIOS to the latest versions (updating iDRAC from v1.30 to v2.92 actually reduced the fan speed from ~1900rpm to ~1300rpm which is already better).
I would like to know how can I reduce fan speed again to make the server quieter. All I was able to find was about iDRAC7 commands (racadm set system.thermalsettings.FanSpeedOffset 0) but can't the equivalent for my version.

Typically that's all you can do, unless you mod a quieter fan. The iDrac gives you the option to change the THRESHOLD at which it triggers warnings and errors, but not to actually change the speed. Do you have any third party hardware in it? Unknown or unsupported hardware can cause the fans to spin louder as a precaution.
