Uneven Power Draw

Dell Community,

We have a rack with 6 R740XD vSAN Ready Node servers and 2 Switches.  These are the only machines in the rack.  Each device is dual PSU and are plugged into both an 'A' and 'B' power source.

The issue is that one side is pulling 1.31 AMPS and the other side is pulling 7.15 AMPS.

Could this be because 1 PSU on each server is getting enough power that the other side (other PSU) is basically on stand by and only drawing a minimal amount?

Hello

The default PSU configuration for most of our servers is redundant. One PSU will supply all of the power to the system and the second PSU will be in a standby mode drawing minimal power. Some servers support over provisioning and load balancing features, but I don't think they are enabled by default. You should review your PSU configuration and the manual to see if what you are experiencing is normal.
