Using Dell T110 ii as a Server and a business computer to run Windows 7 Pro

Okay you all, I had this great idea to use the T110 ii as a Server for my office which consists of 5 other Optiplexes.  Then I decided it would be wonderful to be able to use this computer to run Windows 7 Pro just like my other Optiplexes.  I thought  I could do it by simply having it run 2 separate harddrives and upgraded to Server 2012 R2.  Well I ordered it, and now I have no idea how to have this computer run as a server (backing up to the cloud) and allow me to use it as a desktop. Any tips, ideas, guides would be appreciated. Thanks!!!  Here's the hardware in addition to a monitor, a giga switch, and wireless keyboard/mouse:

So, do you want to run this as a "desktop" or a "server"?! What do you imagine this server doing in its role as a "server"? What would you do with it as a "desktop"? Depending on your model of OptiPlex, it may be far less powerful as a desktop than your OptiPlex's.

Hi theflash1932,

I guess it would good for me to describe the situation. It is in a dental office where 5 of the other computers consist of 1 front desk and 4 in the treatment rooms. I was hoping to use this t110 ii as the server which would connect to a switch with the other computers to share information such as patient records and x-Rays etc. My plan is to also use the t110 and back up all my patient info to a cloud storage. However I wanted to also place the t110 in the consult room and be also be able to show patients their x-Rays etc when we propose a treatment plan to them. Im just not sure if it's possible to have the computer act as a server and a consult computer at the same time or how to even do it. Thanks for any insight you can give!

Well, you can't run both 2012 and Windows 7 like that. I mean, you could, but you would have to install Windows 7 on the T110II, then install 2012 as a virtual machine in VirtualBox or VMware Workstation. I wouldn't do that though. My opinion? You have a server - use it as a server. It can "mostly" be used LIKE a desktop with 2012 on it (it's just Windows underneath after all, but I would suggest you put the server in a closet and get another PC for your other consult room.
