VRTX Shared PERC 8 - STOR10 and STOR9 errors

I recently received a VRTX chassis and am getting the following errors after resetting the CMC to factory default:

STOR10: Access to shared storage will not be available, because the RAID controller is unable to turn on.
STOR9: No RAID controllers have been detected. Access to shared storage will not be available.

Both CMC's are on the latest firmware: 3.21.200.201909170048
Main-Board firmware is latest I can find: 2.21.A00.201510302495

The manuals say I need to update firmware to resolve this, which I can't - because it's on the latest.

Any idea what I can do to get the PERC 8 working again?

Fixed my own issue. Must've been a bad seating of the CMC cards or the PERC8 itself.

Steps:

  1. Shutdown, unplug
  2. Remove one CMC, move other CMC to removed CMC's slot
  3. Move PERC8 to slot 2
  4. Boot - worked fine but no disks (nothing plugged into slot 2's SAS ports)
  5. Shutdown, unplug
  6. Swap CMCs
  7. Boot - worked fine, as before
  8. Shutdown, unplug
  9. Swap PERC8 into slot 1
  10. Boot - worked fine. Detected disks.
  11. Shutdown, unplug
  12. Install second CMC
  13. Boot - all good now with CMCs in redundant mode and PERC8 detecting all my disks

Hello.
I had a same issue on VRTX after changing mainboard and CMC.
Both PERC8 RAID controllers were not visible in Storage>Controllers overview.
I can confirm that this solution above works.
My steps:
1. Updated CMC card to the latest firmware version available 3.41
2. Configured CMC and iDRAC IP address settings
3. RAID controllers still not visible
4. Powered VRTX off, disconnected power, removed chassis cover, performed "power flea" by holding power button for 15-20 sec
5. Changed place of CMC card from SLOT1 to SLOT2 (I have only one CMC installed, if you have two, switch their place)

6. Switched places for PERC8 controllers (hint: controllers should blink green light after power on)
7. Booted, checked IP config, opened web interface and both PERC8 showed up!

Huge thanks to @stroebs for sharing the solution, you saved my day!

Best regards,

Faris
