Virtualization and Poweredge 2850

Hello,

you know if the PowerEdge 2850 Intel Xenon 3.3 is compatible with virtualization? In fact when I want to load the module kvm-intel.ko this is what I as a message:

insmod /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/arch/x86/kvm/kvm-intel.ko
insmod: error inserting '/lib/modules/2.6.30-bpo.1-686/kernel/arch/x86/kvm/kvm-intel.ko': -1 Operation not supported
# lsmod | grep kvm
kvm                   138416  0
# dmesg | grep kvm
[  850.808636] kvm: no hardware support
[150042.886929] kvm: no hardware support

I went into the BIOS to see if there was an option but I found nothing. The version of my BIOS: Revision A01

Thank you

The CPUs that went into the 2850s were made before virtualization extensions came out.  And no compatible upgrades are available.  You will need a newer server that supports hardware virtualization.
