is it possible add network card 10GB to poweredge R610

Dear sirs,

We would like to add my server poweredge R610 to "data network" at 10GB. Is it possible add a card as:

- intel x520

or

- QLogic 41112

to add connectivity with SFP to our switches DNS5248F?

Thanks in advanced

I have have a R610 server with a Dell XR997 D79893-017 10 Gigabit card

Im having troubles configuring them. I see them in the BIOS and in Lifecyles. But they stay in a disconnected state when plugged into a cisco 10GB switch.

Im using with VMare6.5 - they are visible at the host level but also I cannot configure it as its in a disconnected state when connected to a 10GB Switch.

I have a r620 with a 10GB Slot and it communicates no problem.

Any advice would be apricated!

Epark,

Would you confirm a couple things for me?

What slot is the nic installed?

Is the server up to date on BIOS, iDrac, nic?

If you connect to anything else does it connect, or is it specific to this switch?

Let me know.

Are there any validated 10G NICs that use Base-T instead of SFP or SFP+ ?
