Use the setup utility to set it to no greater than 4092Kb. Rounding error will take any answer closer to 4Megs beyond the 4096 limit of NT.

Boot partition can be up to 8 gigs IF you use a slipstreamed version of NT that has Service pack6 integrated.

Windows 2000 doesnt have that limit.

Hi,

Silly question but what is slipstream version of NT.  I have a new PE 2800 and cannot install NT due to the parition size.  Is there anyway of setting up the partition size rather than via the openmanage cd.

Cheers

HI DELL.

Every time when we try to install the Windows NT 4.0 server on our PE 2600 we can make the boot partition just of 2 GB.Everybody here talk about the 4 GB as the max. size of the boot partition by NT 4.0. How can we make it??

Thanks

Max Size is 7.8 Gigs when you have pre loaded NT SP4 or higher.
Microsoft has a procedure for the NTFS.SYS file that needs to be in place for this to happen.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=224526

System partitions that are larger than 7.8 GB can be created only by using third-party partitioning utilities. When Windows NT 4.0 starts, the operating system can use only files that are on the first 7.8 GB of the system partition. After Windows NT 4.0 is started, the operating system can access all files on the volume. However, you may not be able to resolve this problem by manually copying the Ntoskrnl.exe file to the system partition, because the file may be written beyond the first 7.8 GB of the system partition. The only way to make sure that the Ntoskrnl.exe file is written to the first 7.8 GB is to repartition the drive to 7.8 GB or less.

Setup without a service packed CD is limited to 4 gig FAT
