I'm trying to replace my older server PowerEdge 2950 on Windows Server 2003 R2, with this R620, but I want to keep WServer2003R2 for the license key and CAL's licence. The old machine has a role of Domain Controller.
I managed to install on the new machine, Server2003R2 OS, but I understand from your answer that I will be unable to rely on this machine considering for this OS incompatibility. I hoped to find drivers for 2003 OS. These are bad news for us if we need new licenses procured.
Also I need to keep the Power Vault 124T in place for my backups. It is possible to replace the scsi connection between those two machine (124 T and my new machine R620), with a iSCSI conection or something else, in this virtual perspective, or is still mandatory to use SCSI connection?
I would be able to take from my old machine 2950 Power Edge, the Card 39320 Ultra320 SCSI interface SCSI and to mount on the R620, but I understand from your post that they aren't compatible. Here are details about the interface that is installed on the server PE2950:
Adapter Manufacturer - Adaptec
Slot PCI2
Adapter SCSI Card 39320A Ultra320 SCSI
Type PCI X
Data Bus Width 64 Bits
Speed [Not Obtained, see card documentation]
Slot Length Long
Voltage Supply 3.3 Volts
And what about Adaptec SCSI Card 29320LPE , which I understand from some friends that would be compatible with R620?
I'd actually just buy a Dell or LSI 2032 PCIe SCSI controller as it's more likely to work. The Adaptec may work fine too, but as Dell offered the 2032 in their 11th generation PowerEdges it's likely that it'll also still work in the 12th generation servers. The adaptec was probably not tested, but could work just fine as well (though you may have to try it to see if this is this case or not).

Relutu,
Windows Server 2003 can only be installed as a Guest Operating System in a hypervisor. 2003 isn't supported as the primary OS.

Because Dell doesn't support W2k3 on Power Edge Gen 12 so if you try install 2k3 on this I think the system maybe not working properly.

I read something here support.euro.dell.com/.../PVMatrix but I didn't see any references to this product.
I must find a solution to connect my PV124T on R620 12th generation :emotion-6:
I'd appreciate your help on this.

Hi Relutu,
R620 only support PCIe so can't plug SCSI Adapter card (HBA 39160 or39320) come with PV124T.

For PCIe SCSI needs, Dell offers (or maybe offered) LSI's 2032 SCSI card. This is similar to Adaptec's 29320LPE, but it uses an LSI SCSI chip.

Thanks for your reply Dev Mgr;
So, you say I could try this Adaptec 29320LPE ? Because I haven't and for this I should buy it.
But what about my old Adaptec Card 39320A Ultra320 SCSI, from the old server PE2950? Can I use this on PE R620 ?
I really need a workaround for this situation. Appreciate any response after.
