ERROR Code Help E0876 and E880

Hello everone

The status window in my Power Edge 2800 server displays these 2 messeges:

  • E0876 PS 2 status PS 2 AC Lost
  • E0880 PS REDUNDENCY Lost

Can anyone tell me what this means or direct me to a resoucre that can help.  I'm very new to server administration and can use all the help I can get.

The first error message means that there's no A/C on Power Supply #2.

The second message means that your power is no longer redundent - e.g., if you someone kicks the cable out of PS1, the server will shutdown.

Plug in a power cable to PS2 and both error messages should go away.  If there are already two power cables plugged in, Power Supply #2 is faulty - you'll need to start troubleshooting.

In the box of stuff that comes with a new server, there is usually a package (white envelope) that has three CD's.  One of them is titled "Product Documentation."  All of the documentation for your PE2800 is in there.

If you don't have the CD, you can download the ISO image from Dell here.

This forums page doesn't seem to appreciate the use of "table" HTML tags - the whole list is available on my homepage.

Thank you for your help.

The UPS was indeed not connected properly. The power cable from the UPS to the back of the server was loose. Appaerently the server was phsycally moved before I gained access to it and no one bothered to check that all of the cables were plugged in properly.

So I plugged it in and all is well again.

Thanks again.

Unsure whether this thread is still followed or not. I myself have just encountered the "ps redundancy lost" message on PowerEdge 2580. At first I thought either 1 of the psu is faulty. But when I cycle the on/off switch of each psu, the server stay on. If either the psu is faulty, the server would have died straight out right? Now after doing that, the message disappears. Is this normal?
