ESXi 5.5 on PowerEdge R210?

Hello,

Is it possible to run ESXi 5.5 on PowerEdge R210  ? I've seen warnings about compatibility software raid controllers S100 from knowledge base, and from what I can see the system does actually use S100.

SERVICE CHARGE..., DRIVER..., SERIAL ATTACHED SCSI..., PERC S100, R210

However, looking at the compatibility list there aren't listed issues, so maybe the issue was solved?

Kind regards,

Michael

Mjedal,

5.5 is supported on the R210, but the S100 isn't supported by VMware. Neither of the software raid controllers are. When you try to install, the controller won't be seen.

You can find that here - http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=2007900&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_KB_1_1&dialogID=113426846&stateId=1 0 113434691

If you would, could you Private Msg me the svc tag and I will confirm the controller. The line you gave is a driver line, not necessarily what is installed

Let me know.

Mjedal,

After reviewing the svc tag that you sent, it appears that there is a SAS 6/ir raid controller installed in the server. Which is supported for ESXi. If you power it on, do you get a CTRL-C prompt after POST? If so that is the prompt to access that controller. If not then verify it is enabled in the BIOS.
