Hello wickedbuzz

We haven't released an OS driver pack that has the necessary files to install server 2012. In the meantime you can install directly from the 2012 DVD or boot to the System Build and Update Utility to perform the install:

Thanks

Ty for quick response Daniel.

You mentioned the System Build and Update Utility..

When using the System Build and Update Utility for OS deployment, i cannot choose Win2012Std as my choice, it is not listed as an option. Only Win2k8, Win2k8R2, Win2011SBS, Win2k8 R2 with SP1. I tried to trick the system by selecting Win2k8 R2 with SP1 and clicking next, then it asked me to insert the OS media wich i did, but few seconds after that the setup came up with some sort of missing dll file error.)

About 2012 DVD

When i boot from the dvd, the windows setup starts loading up and this is the first thing i see

http://www.thelowercasew.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/PVSCSI-3.jpg

(   that is a random picture from google, i have the same case here only the list is totally empty. blank. when i click Browse i can only point to C:\ and X:\  )  I believe that screen comes right before the language and keyboard localization settings but i never got to that.

Will it work if i download the 1693MB utility from the link you gave me?

I'm at home at the moment, i could provide some more details on errors and server hardware when i get to work in like 10 hours from now.

The S100 controller is not validated to work on server 2012. None of our utility discs will load the necessary driver. It has been reported by several customers that the 2008R2 driver for the S100 will work in 2012. You will have to manually load the driver during installation.

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r210-2?driverId=W3N37&osCode=WS8R2&fileId=3126067438

Download the hard drive version. It is a self extracting executable, so be sure to run the .exe and extract it out. Place the extracted files onto a USB/Thumb drive. When you get to the screen that it is stopping on direct it to the location on the USB drive that you put the files. It should detect the driver and install. You should then be able to proceed with the installation.

Thanks

Dell guys, we should note that if the customer installs 2012, it is my understanding that issues that arise from running that OS on this system with that controller wont be supported, is that correct?

I wouldn't go so far as to say it would not be supported. We will do our best to troubleshoot any issues that may arise, but there is only so far we can go. We cannot escalate issues with unsupported/invalidated equipment, so the issue will not go beyond front line support. Since the S100 is a driver based controller I would be hesitant of using an invalidated driver.

Daniel, can you confirm that the link you just gave me is working? When i click single-file download i get this error.

It's working for me. There have been some site issues today though. Here is a direct link:

Sorry, the requested file could not be downloaded.

Invalid File I.D. The file does not exist.

Can you re-upload it or e-mail it to me?

Yes, the SBUU I linked is newer than the OS driver pack installed on the lifecycle controller. It has server 2012 as an option. If you are getting a pop-up to install additional drivers then there is a piece of hardware that windows does not have a driver for. Have you added any hardware to the system, or do you have the S100 controller that Rey linked?

Thanks

(Thanks Rey)

Still not working here :S  Ok i think i found a way arround to get to the files i need. You gave me the link to the executable setup file for windows but i think i found the "hard drive" version of the package and i managed to unpack it.  (5 files inside)

www.dell.com/.../poweredge-r210-2

Thank you, very much guys. I will test all this in the morning when i get to work and i will come back here with some results.

About Rey G and using Win 2008 r2 drivers for Win2012 Std operating system

I think all this chemistry will work because win2012 is to a large extent windows 2008 with a different desktop theme, but i'm expecting errors by using drivers for different OS, and i wont hold you guys or Dell responsible for any problems i might ran into. that would be crazy of me, yes.

eeeehehe dont take seriously the part when i said that win2012 is win2008 with a different desktop theme, as a certified server admin i know very well what the difference is but driver-wise, there shouldn't be much difference

I dont think this is working with the drivers you mentioned Daniel.

Here are the results

http://s12.postimage.org/f4zu27eot/DSCN0065.jpg

Notice that "Next" button is not greyed out any more but when i click it, the systems starts scanning for the drivers from the folder i've selected but then that popup message comes up saying "No new device drivers are found. ...." I can click Ok, Next and it will pop up again.

There are several versions of the file. I checked the file I linked earlier and it is the windows installer version. I found 5+ versions of the file you downloaded, they all have the same file name. This is the correct version of it, give it a try. Also, it may be another device it is looking for a driver for. If it still does not detect the driver then I would suggest installing using the SBUU.

This is my first attempt to install MS W2012S Std, so please don't judge me to harsh. I'm trying to install it on the Poweredge 210 R2.

I already tried to boot with no success, as my mirror raid is invisible to my OS.

Did anything change so far? Is it any driver that works for sure without trying several options?

Thank you heaps.
