Install Win2003 on PowerEdge 3250 - need a Boot CD

Hello,
since one year we are using a PE 3250-Server running Red Head on it. Now we would like to install the system new using Windows 2003.
If I read the manual correctly we need a special boot CD. The server was delivered only with a Red HEad boot CD. Where can I get a needed CD to install Windows 2003? It is possible to make and send a copy or do we buy this CD?
Thanks a lot in advanced,
Tom

You dont need a special boot CD. Its easier to install with a server assistant CD but its Not Required.
If your system is still supported you can get the "special" cds via a Dell Open Manage Subscription.

While the latest version of Dell OpenManage software is still included with the purchase of any Dell server, you can now stay up-to-date with new releases by enrolling in the OpenManage Subscription Service1. A subscription includes four, eight or twelve updates to the Dell OpenManage Server Assistant CD, the Dell OpenManage Systems Management CD and the Product Documentation CD.

Key Benefits

Receive the most recent utilities, diagnostics, drivers, and system BIOS updates on the Dell OpenManage Server Assistant CD. Take advantage of Dell's continual product improvements by installing the system management instrumentation, agents, and console application programs on the Dell OpenManage Systems Management CD. Stay current with PowerEdgeTM and OpenManage documentation on the Product Documentation CD including user's guides, installation and troubleshooting guides, quick installation guides, and other pertinent documentation. Plan ahead for system upgrades - updates will be mailed on a scheduled quarterly basis2. Minimize time searching online for product updates - subscription update CDs will be delivered directly to your office. Reduce the occurrence of version compatibility problems - benefit from Dell mailing the appropriate version to you.

Hi, thanks a lot for that hint. Unfortunately we do have only for our PE 700 an OpenManage Server Assistant an that don't run on a PE 3250 :-(. If we purchase the OpenManage Subscription Service we will get the 1st CD at the next schedule. Is there any possibility to get the last CD as download or could anyone send me a copy??? Thanks a lot, Tom

The Server Assistant CD will not work with the PowerEdge 3250 since the PE3250 is a 64-bit Itanium system and not a 32-bit (or EM64T) P4 or Xeon system.  You will need a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition or Datacenter Edition CD and license specifically for Itanium.  http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/64bit/bulletin.mspx will explain a bit more about it.  The drivers for the PERCs that are supported on the 3250 are native to the Dell OEM CD, but I do not know if they are native to the acutal Microsoft retail copies.
