Hi Jeff,

The server assistant cd does put a boot size limitation when installing the os. If you would like to use the all of your drive space for one partion, then yes you will need to install the os manually.

What determines how much of the hard disk that Server Assistant is allowed to use?

I am trying to load up a PE400SC with an 80gig drive and Server Assistant will only let me create a boot partition of about 60 gig.  If I install Windows 2003 server manually, I can use the whole 80 gig, but then I don't get anything that Server Assistant would load or configure.

Is there a way to get Server Assistant to use all 80 gig?  What am I giving up by installing the OS manually?

If you are using any of the latest 8.x Server Assistant cds, you will have a 60GB boot partition limit. These Server Assistant cds are built on the Linux kernel which has a limit of 60GB.  If you would like to use all of the space, just download the Raid Controller drivers from http://support.dell.com, expand them onto a diskette and use the F6 option during a normal OS installation.
