PE 400SC Unexpected Shutdown Problem every 30 minutes 2003 Server

This is a new server which runs fine while it's up but shuts down unexpectedly every 30 minutes.  I get an error message on boot saying there is a damaged driver or a problem with shared services.  The event log records a problem with shared service every minute.

Can anyone give me a clue as to what the problem might be here? or should I just return the unit.

Thanks.

You might make sure your licensing is correct and the system has been activated properly.

I have heard some folks talking about the system not staying running if the activation has problems.

I'm running the 180 day trial download 2003 Enterprise Edition from Microsofts site and have not activated it yet, got 12 days left, and have had no problems with shutdowns. I have been getting crashes in Planetside after about 2 hours of play with low virtual memory errors, but I chalk that up to gaming on a server OS, but then again I never had the errors on my Windows 2000 Pro box

Thanks for all the input.

Apparently the problem was caused by the fact that we use workgroups, not domain controllers and Windows 2003 Server is for domain controllers, not workgroups.

A clean reinstall of Win 2000 Server solved the problem.

Unfortunately, even though I paid for the upgrade to 2003, Dell is giving me some flimsy excuse as to why they will not credit me for the upgrade.

Not too happy about the situation but at lease the server is working now.
