Hi John

Win2000 Professional is not supported on any PowerEdge Server. However, it is not too difficult to install and uses all the same drivers as Win2000 Server.

The benefit of using a vaildated Operating System is the Dell OpenManage Applications. For the install, the Dell OpenManage Server Assistant CD (DOSA). The CD will help with the creation of your raid array, load all the correct drivers for Win2000 Server and save about 30% of the time of a normal Operating System install.

Other Dell OpenManage Applications are the Array Manager, Server Administrator and IT Assistant which are helpful in maintaining your arrays, server and network computers.

Hi Mark-

I am installing NT4 Server on a 600SC.  I am unable to locate the OpenManage CDs that came with the system.  I have installed a SCSI hard drive in the system and need to reinstall the system utility partition.  Can you tell me if there is a way to download the software or order another CD?

Thanks,

Bryan

Hi Bryan,

The latest revision of the OpenManage Applications is part number 310-0399. Dell spare parts can be reached by phone at 1-800-357-3355.

Note: NT 4.0 is not officially validated on the PowerEdge 600 SC platform, so the Dell OpenManage Server Assistant CD (DOSA) will not help install NT 4.0, but it will install the Utility Partition for you.
