Does it say it needs a CD/DVD driver, or does it simply say it can't find any drives to install to?

That's not the EXACT message, but it "might" be close enough. It can't find any DRIVES to install to, right?
Which controller are you using? Have you configured RAID first? NO controller in a 6850 supports non-RAID, so ALL drives must be configured in a RAID array before they are usable by the OS, even with the right drivers. Depending on your controller, you may also need to supply drivers, as 2012 won't natively support SCSI controllers.

I have configured RAID as Raid 5. Current controller is EMBEDDED RAID CONTROLLER Sil 0680 ATA. When I go through the installation process of Windows 2008 R2, I'm able to view the logical drivers and go ahead the installation process. But When I use Windows server 2012 i'm no able the view the logical driver.

You need the storage driver. 2008R2+ dropped native support for many legacy storage protocols.
