Poweredge R630 with S130 - Hard Drives not recognized
Good morning,
We recently inherited 2 Dell Poweredge R630 with PERC S130. We tried installing 5 - Dell 1.8TB SAS drives and the server will not recognize the drives. The hard disk LED simply flashes green. We have modified BIOS to RAID mode, updated firmware, updated iDRAC and made every configuration change possible (per Dell user guides and on-line forums) and still no luck..........The PERC is recognized but it still does not see the hard drives.
So I have a few questions and appreciate any assistance you all can provide:
1. Are these drives compatible with the Dell Poweredge R630 with PERC S130?
2. What step are we missing? Do we need to install additional firmware?
3. We are simply trying to install RAID-5 on these drives, why won't R630 recognize the drives?

So a follow-up note:
I did try installing a SATA drive from a R640 server and the R630 recognized the drive immediately.
I did read in the R630 documentation somewhere that SAS drives may not be compatible, but have still been unable to validate that. Not sure if that's a compatibility issue with the PERC S130.
