Problem installing OS on Poweredge R720xd
Hello,
We have a new Poweredge server, I initially ran through the Life Cycle mgmt and did OS deployment, then chose a Windows version and had Windows installed.
Then I had to redo the disk partitions so blew everything away and created 3 raid groups.
I then rebooted and am trying to do the OS install again, using the same CD I did earlier it is now giving me this error:
Critical
Unable to retrieve the list of supported operating systems(SWC0015)
Recommended action:
Update the system with the latest Lifecycle Controller OS Driver Pack. Obtain the OS Driver Pack from the service provider.
My question...where do I get the OS Driver pack? I downloaded what I thought was it, but it was an EXE file so not sure how to run it.
Any help would be great, thanks!
Regards,
MK

Thanks for the links Chris.
Yes still trying from the Lifecycle controller.
I am downloading the 64 bit ISO now....does it really have to be over 5GB ?!?!? I'm not sure how I will even burn that!
I will let you know how it turns out, thanks again,
Regards,
MK

Mekmiotek,
You can locate the driver pack here, if os is 64bit
- http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/tt/en/ttbsdt1/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r720xd?driverId=XK78M&osCode=WS8R2&fileId=3230272299&languageCode=en&categoryId=SM
32bit - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/tt/en/ttbsdt1/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r720xd?driverId=189M2&osCode=WS8R2&fileId=3230204314&languageCode=en&categoryId=SM
Also, are you still trying to load from the Lifecycle controller?
Let me know.

Hey Chris,
I'm working on doing the lifecycle update....I had to order double layer DVD's in order to burn that ISO, and the DVD's did not come yet.
I'm wondering If someone can just point me to the mass storage driver for 64bit Windows for this server....I'm trying to do the install again by just booting off of the CD, but the Windows installation process does not have drivers for the disk controller.
Can I just download the driver, slipstream it in during the OS installation, and be done?
Can someone point me to the driver download page for a Poweredge R720xd? Just the storage drivers?
Thanks!

I was able to find the correct drivers:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r720?driverId=4R5XT&osCode=WS8R2&fileId=3264560905&languageCode=en&categoryId=SF
I installed Windows Server 2008 R2 and used that driver so Windows could see the disk.
Thanks for help with this!
