Recommended Settings for LPe12002-E

Normally the default settings are best, as these have been designed to cover most scenario's. You would have to enable the LPe bios to boot from SAN as it would then scan for a bootable lun but setting it up is a bit different . The emulex utilities can assist, hba anywhere can change and adjust almost all settings. The user documentation in conjunction with the SAN documentation will help you set up boot from SAN.

although i have never set up boot from SAN for customers, the advertised benefits don't really matter with today's systems. Most modern server have on-board usb/SD card readers as well as standard hard disks and 4hr onsite cover. Once you've setup boot from san and installed the os which can take around half a day. To move the boot lun to another server is not so easy, you either need to be at the system to work in the bios or have drac access. It can still take a while to set up the replacement. If you go this route then document/script each step so you can replicate it.
