Remotely update BIOS R620 with Ubuntu

Does anybody know if it is possible to remotely update the bios of a R620 (with iDrac Express) running Ubuntu 12.04.3.

I have performance issues with the Intel E5-2630 CPU's and read that it might be solved updating the bios to the latest version:

BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN

I tried to run the bin file

But i got lines like:

./BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN: 165: ./BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN: typeset: not found
./BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN: 166: ./BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN: typeset: not found
./BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN: 167: ./BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN: typeset: not found
./BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN: 168: ./BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN: typeset: not found
./BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN: 169: ./BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN: typeset: not found
./BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN: 170: ./BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN: typeset: not found
./BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN: 200: ./BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN: typeset: not found
./BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN: 684: ./BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN: Syntax error: "(" unexpected

Hello Marcel

I don't think we create any updates designed to run under Ubuntu. The easiest method for you to perform the updates would be through the iDRAC. Connect to the iDRAC web interface via the IP address and choose the option to update and rollback in the left column.

You can run windows 32 bit Dell Update Packages(DUP) from there. You can update the system BIOS, PERC firmware, iDRAC firmware, and most other firmware from the iDRAC using that method. It is operating system independent, so it is a great way to perform updates when you are running Ubuntu, ESXi, or other OS's we don't typically write updates for.

Thanks
