SP1 on Small Business Server 2003

I'm confused about if Dell is going to support SP1 on an SC1420 PowerEdge server. I spoke with a support person that said you had to remove the OpenManage server assistant software if you were going to apply the service pack or if you waned to use OpenManage you could not install SP1. In a paper taken from the Dell web site named:

"What is Microsoft® Windows Server™ 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and what should I know about its deployment?"  it says that SP1 does not apply to Windows Small Business Server 2003. Is this a Dell hardware restriction and only Dell servers can not install SP1 or am I missing something? I ordered SP1 from Microsoft specifically for SBS 2003 Premium and I know that it has some added parts from the main SP so I need some clarification.

Thanks

The Tech person you spoke to was quite correct in what they told you.

A tweaked version of Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 for SBS has only been launched by Microsoft a few days ago. You can download the files required from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=B6F8A4C0-B707-4161-ADEB-44F1B756119F&displaylang=en

If you don't have Server Administrator installed, you can install the SP files straight away, otherwise you have to wait until version 3.4 is available.

If you want more info goto http://www.smallbizserver.net/ and registered (it's free). The Ladies running the site have put together a document for installing SBS Service Pack 1 and mention the Server Administrator incompatiblity problem there

Make sure you do a lot of reading on this subject before you get started.  There is a specific order in whihc the updates required to install SBS SP1 need to be installed.  Most everyone has all of them except the XPSP2 rollout Service Pack.  Even if your clients already have SP2 installed, the SBS SP1 will insist you have the XPSP2 client rollup installed, needed or not.

I ghosted an image of my machine before I installed SP1 just for safe keeping.
