SP3 error SQL Server 2000 is not installed on this machine

Hello,

 

We are running the  Dell OS Windows 2000 with SQL Server 2000. When attempting to install SP3 for the SQL Server we receive an error message.

 

"SQL Server 2000 is not installed on this machine"

 

I have restarted the SQL Server, rebooted the server and attempted to install SP3 with SQL Server running and stopped. Same error every time.

 

Any suggestions?
