Stop C000021a Fatal System Error

When I start up my Server (PowerEdge 2650 equipped with 2000 Server O/S) it gets to the blue screen just before the logon screen then cuts out with this error message and reboots:

STOP c000021a fatal system error.  The logon process has been terminated unexpectedly. (0x00000080)

This goes on in cycles and I haven't managed to start my computer for five days, either in safe mode, VGA or going to last known good configurations.

Then I performed a hardware diagnostic (using the Dell CD and with the help of their technicians) but everything checked out Ok.

When I press F8, it won't let me get to safe mode or anything like that.

Suggestion? I don't want to reinstall as I have some info on the hard drive.

Thank you,

Vincent

Hi,

I tried to do a repair via CD (2000 Server) however it came up with a msg saying "Setup did not find any hard drive installed on ur computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk -related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer supplied diagnostic or setup program"   I ran the diagnostic and it says 2 hard drives passed as well as SCSI card and Raid Controller. I am running a Raid 0 (with 2 hard drives - both SCSI HDs). The hardware is Adaptic SCSI 39160 Rev. 257.2S2   with PowerEdge Raid Controller 3/Di   What is causing the CD not be able to find the hard drives  even though the diagnostic says HDs passed? You think it's a problem with the motherboard? I tried to run OpenManage however it won't get to that part. I mean it boots, then shows Windows 2000 Screen, then goes into "stop c000021a" error msg. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Vincent

Sound like one of your disk drivers are causing this. If a driver does not initialize, you will get this. You need to get the correct driver(s), applying another repair install, as you are probably missing most of the OS files, as they did not actually copy to the disks.
I would also check you have no ventilation problems. You might download memtest and run it from floppy, though I really believe it is a disk driver.
