Question 1: where is a HCL for the H200, that way I have a reference on the next order.

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/genselector.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&manufact=694&s=bsd&stype=7&dgc=IR&cid=274098&lid=5124587&family=PowerEdge%20Servers

That is not a complete listing. You will need to call spare parts if the drive you are looking for is not available online.

Question 2: The firmware on boot for the H200 stated it was 7.15.xxxx  Is that right?  Cause I am looking on Dell's support and the firmware version number is much smaller.

What is listed as the firmware version in controller logs and during the controller initialization process on our PERCs is not typically what we refer to as the firmware version. It is usually listed as the package version by the controller.

Thanks

Hello

What am I doing wrong?

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. This appears to be a compatibility issue.

I try to create the SSD RAID 1 volume it keeps telling me it has a problem writing to the non-volatile memory.

That error indicates it is having issues writing to the SSD. When you create a RAID array it writes information describing the array to the drives. This error indicates it is having issues writing that data.

Then the controller menu goes to a super slow "laggy" mode.  Requires a reboot, but then it get stuck at the "initializing ..." screen.  The only way to get back in to the Perc H200 menu is to disconnect all of the SSDs.

The controller keeps a record of the arrays in it's memory and there is a record written to the drives themselves. It sounds like the controller is able to write the data to itself but unable to write it to the drives. A communication issue with the SSDs could cause the controller to continuously try to communicate with the drives. Once the drives are disconnected the array would be marked offline on the controller side, and the controller would stop trying to write to the drives.

In short, I think this is simply a communication failure between the controller and SSDs. We validate hardware for the server so that you don't run into issues like this. If you choose to use hardware that is not validated then you may experience odd behavior or no functionality at all. You could try updating the firmware on the SSDs from another system to see if that will allow the controller and drive to communicate properly. Also, make sure the H200 is up to date.

Thanks

Thank you for the explanation.  I will try the firmware.  If that doesn't work, I will just go ahead and use the software RAID1 on the builtin SATA port with Windows 2012 R2.
