Three "PCI Device"s in Device Manager?

I am reinstalling Windows 2000 Server on a PE2650 (Svc Tag: 7399561).  Everything seems to be OK, except there are three yellow exclamation points in the Device Manager; all are labeled "PCI Device".

Checking the registry for Plug -n- Play ID's yields:  PCI/VEN_1028&DEV_0008, PCI/VEN_1028&DEV_000C and PCI/VEN_1028&DEV_000D.

I have had Plug and Play scan all the usual driver INF files that I use, but it's not hitting on any of them.  I'm puzzled.  What are these guys?

Chris I am seeing the same thing. I have looked and looked for the correct driver and have not found it yet. Did you ever figure this out?

Nope. I haven't found a solution yet. The server doesn't seem to be suffering any ill effects from it, but I don't like driverless devices on my server.

Does anybody from Dell participate in this forum? I thought they might help out.

Thanks Terry, I'll keep poking at them. If I find out I'll let you know. I have asked a friend of mine who works at dell. Perhaps he knows

Terry, you can go to www.pcidatabase.com and enter the vendor info in and you will find that the devices you mentioned are
1028 = Dell
0008 = RAC Virtual Uart port
000c = Embedded Systems management device 4
000d = wasn't listed.

Yes, but these devices aren't registered Intel PCI devices. They are a Dell PCI code.

Thanks anyway.

Finally! I have found the drivers.

They are located on the Service and Diagnostic Utilities CD in the Dell OpenManage software. For some reason, they don't appear to be available for download. For download, I was only able to find firmware.

The driver is for ESM / DRACIII. This covers all three PCI devices.

Here are the final PCI descriptions:

VEN_1028&DEV_0008: RAC Virtual UART Port
VEN_1028&DEV_000C: PCI Function 0 (Embedded Server Management)
VEN_1028&DEV_000D: PCI Function 2 (Embedded Server Management)

Thanks for your help!

A very old post, but, yes, the OpenManage software also installs the DRAC/ERA drivers when installed.

What fixed this for me is installing Dell Openmanage 5.5 from the following link. ftp://ftp.dell.com/sysman/om_5.5.0_mannode_a00.exe Installed, then after reboot the missing devices were gone.

OMSA 5.4 is the latest version supporting the 2650, which is why later versions didn't work.

I know it is old, but some people still have this problem. I just had to reinstall 2008 Server on an old PE 2650 and ran into this problem. It took me a long time to find this solution so I thought it best to update this post for others. Keep in mind that later versions do NOT install the needed drivers. I tried a later version first and it did nothing for me.
