USB Boot on T330
Hi everyone,
Hope someone can help with this one. I recently purchased a T330 and am looking to install 2012 R2 onto it. I already have preconfigured USB drives with a UEFI and non-UEFI (MBR) version ready to go but I cannot get the server to see either of the USBs.
I have tried everything I can think of, running OS deployment through the Lifecycle controller (No media available error), trying to pick up the USB as a bootable device in Boot manager via both BIOS and UEFI modes, nothing showing.
In my previously setup machines I was able to pick up the USB vis boot manager as a sub menu under "C: Hard Disk", but this version doesn't have that.
Anyone have any ideas what I am missing or other things to try?
Regards,
Chris Snape

Thanks for the reply, Robert. I don't have that particular option in my Integrated Devices settings...
FYI - The USB sticks I am using are USB 2.0 - would that matter?

I have tried plugging them in at the front and the back, no difference.
Any other ideas why the server can't see the USB drives? Could it be the drives themselves?

FYI - the front USB ports still don't work with the keyboard and mouse when booting the 2008 R2 disc.
Couldn't get this sorted so ended up replacing the DVD drive with a Blu Ray drive and burning the 5.3GB ISO of 2012 R2 onto a BD-R. Worked fine and booted from Optical.
Shame I couldn't get the USB to work.

I have the same issue. I also resorted to boot from the optical unit to install the OS but for eventual maintenance tasks I would prefer to boot from a USB port. It would be helpful if a Dell representative could comment about how to do so.
Thanks,
Marcelo

I am having the same issue. The USB stick is not recognised during the UEFI scan. Don't fancy purchasing a blue-ray burner for a task that should work on USB. Any other suggestions?

Are you using Rufus to make the bootable USB stick? Assuming you do, I'd suggest to try the "GPT partition scheme for UEFI".

You can install by connecting a USB-SATA HDD to the front USB port and starting it up. Please use a USB-SATA HDD or SSD, not a USB stick memory or flash disk.
