What Linux distros are supported by Dell?
I'm sure this is mentioned somewhere in the documentation, but I haven't been able to find it, so I thought it would be quicker posting it here.
Everywhere I read about PowerEdge and Linux everybody talks about RedHat (which is what I'm running on my PE1500SC, by the way).
I was just wondering, are there any other distributions out there supported by Dell (SUSe, Mandrake, Debian, etc.)
Thanks,
Julian

Hi,
The difference with this distros is the installation and the package version, you won't have problems with it but if you run an specific app. such oracle maybe you'll have some problems..
hope this help

Does Suse have any automatic updates like RedHat does?
Thanks,
Julian

Hi;
has this changed? Is it any version of red hat past 7?
Is there a list of supported flavors someplace?
The system utility disk asks for RH pro 9.
Thanks

Dell will support the Red Hat distribution that was sold at the time of your system. Keep in mind though that if Red Hat has EOL that version, and what you are experiencing could be considered a bug / security issue. The only recourse you would have is to upgrade to the lastest supported release.
