Powerpath shows nothing on a HP Machine
Hello everyone,
I currently encounter a problem.
At my customer, the HP machine used pvlink to manage the failover, but want now to use Powerpath
I thus installed powerpath 5.1 on one of the machines , change the initiator on Navisphere into mode Failover 0 and Clariion Open. I then launched a powermt config.
But I do not see anything when I make a powermt display dev=all nor when I make a very short display.
I specify that I checked the compatibility of the version of the drivers with PowerPath 5.1
Can you help me?
Thanks.
Jean Pierre

Chose the HP-UX HBA
Click Info
Your settings should be as follows:
Initiator Type: - HP No Auto Trespass
HBA Type: Host
ArrayComPath: Enabled
Failover Mode: 1
Unit Serial Number: Array
Also you may want to edit the agent.config file as per emc3038
Good Luck!

Check with a "powermt check_registration" command.
If it's not, use "emcpreg" to add a license key.

Should it nevertheless show HBAs?
I use to heard powerpath could work without license but only detects failover on storage side and supports only one HBA.
Am i right?

Your initiator settings on the CLARiiON array are set incorrectly to "CLARiiON open", they should be "HP No Auto Trespass" --> I believe this is the issue...

I should modify the initiator type as suggested. I would try monday when the HP machine will be available for powering down because this server use the Boot on SAN technology.
I'll certainly remind you when the operation would be over.
Thanks a lot.

If you see only one path after changing the settings then go to /etc on the HPUX host
# mv powermt.custom powermt.custom.old and Reboot the host
The Host would read the PP configuration and create the powermt.custom file on reboot.
Then do a powermt display to see if you could see both paths to the LUN

I did as suggested, so:
- Modify the initiator type
- Disconnect the host from SG
- Reconnect the host to SG
And that works fine!
