How often should I change the LTO4 tapes?
I want to know about the Life cycle of LTO4 tapes, we have TL4000 with LTO 4 drives.
After how many times of use should I retire a tape..

Hello Beadmin,
Here is a link to the LTO media guide. http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_powervault/powervault-lto4-120_Reference%20Guide2_en-us.pdf?c=us&l=en&cs=555&s=biz If you look on page26 it explains that the media is good for 260 full backups.

Thanks I believe we may stick with rotating a tape's for 30 -35 times and then retire , as above may also include read \write times.
