How to manage PowerVault MD1000

Hi i am a new sysadmin and we have two PowerVault MD1000's plugged into a PowerEdge 6850.  The 6850 is running OS Red Hat Ent. Linux 5.  The two MD1000's each have a RAID5 configuration that shows up as two disks in the host OS.

I'm wondering how to manage the MD1000, the disk and volume configuration, etc.  What happens if a disk fails, how do I perform tasks such as rebuilding and verifying the arrays, etc.

Am i supposed to use Server Administrator?  If so, how do i access it?  It appears to be installed in /opt/dell/srvadmin but if i try to go to https://

there is no connection.

Hello scarlion,

To manage an MD1000 you normally use either OME(Open Manage Essentials) or the PERC Bios. OME is a windows only so you would need to either install a windows VM & install OME there or you can use the PERC cards Bios to manage your MD1000.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
