Installing Server 2012 R2 to DELL PERC H330

I'm trying to install a system with a Dell PERC H330...

I've done the physical installation, including connecting 1 tape drive and 1 SATA drive.

When I boot the machine, I see both drives detected by the controller (in Ctrl+R)

When I try to install Windows, even if I manually use the 'Load Driver' I cannot see the hard drive to install Windows.

I've tried in both normal RAID and HBA modes, with the same results for both. The H330 boot device automatically selects the SATA drive just fine.

Any ideas!?!

Hello derek_bartram,

The issue is that you have both connected to the same PERC card.  When you connect a tape drive to a PERC H330, it needs to be I HBA mode.  Also a Tape drive needs to be on its own HBA, & can’t have any drives connected to the controller.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you Sam for the additional information, much appreciated.

I've tried booting with only the hard drive connected to the H330, however I have the same issues.

Can I get around the limitation by having two H330 in the same machine?

Hello derek_bartram,

In most cases you can have two perc cards in a server.  Which model server do you have?
