You mention using Dell and Microsoft drivers but never mention using the Symantec drivers.... When you ran Tapeinst did you select to use symantec drivers for the drives?
Be sure you do not have a driver loaded for the changer... you should be using the Unknown Medium Changer driver.
After runnning tapeinst to install the symantec drivers if possible reboot the server.
I understand the desirable method is to use the symantec drivers, but for this to occur symantec must see the device. After a support call with Dell, we were able to resolve the issue. The problem was the server had PowerPath 5.0 and we downgraded it to 4.5. Immediately after that the Backup Exec application seen the Robotic Library. Very strange, never would have figured. I was told that there would be no issue with my cluster as the active node is running 5 and the passive is running 4.5, but I will not fail it to see until I am sure i get a good backup first.
