We actually got it working! (In response to your ITDT, we tried using the control path drive to flash firmware...unfortunately that didn't work. I believe the error was "The selected action is not supported on this kind of drive", which is funny, because I've been able to flash library firmware to some IBM and Dell libraries this way). What we did to get this working.... We took a new compact Flash card and dooped it. From there, we put the new flash card into the LCB and booted up the drive. There is a website provided by Dell that requires only the service ticket and serial number to provide any and all license keys. Since we could get the new flash card up and working, all that was left was to upgrade the firmware via the web client and reinstate the license keys. I hope this helps someone!
I can not access the web client to put firmware on the library. Here in lies the circular problem. The web client is needed to update the firmware that would fix the issue of logging into the web client. I have no means available to update firmware. The dell utility for the ML6000 does not get beyond the SSH logging. Can I update this library via serial? If so, what is the baud rate? We've tried the common ones up to and including 115200. Also, we had thought of restoring factory defaults, but we are concerned that doing so would delete the Capacity-On-Demand license key that is installed. Considering the associated cost with Dell's licenses, we are unwilling to try that option...(yet).
What I would recommend it that you upgrade to 590G. By flashing the firmware it will reboot the web interface and should make it respond correctly. If that fails then I would suggest that you do restore the ML back to defaults. You can do that from the front panel by going to: ToolsFactory Defualts. You will need to wait 30minutes for it to complete. If the issue still hasn’t been resolved then there is going to be an issue with you LCB & we would need to replace it.
What you can do is if you have the firmware downloaded for the ML you can use the ITDT to flash the firmware for the library. There are sometimes issues that it doesn’t want to flash the library firmware but it is another option. It will take about 30minutes to flash library firmware tis way. You can do the restore to defaults and it will keep all of your slot license without any issues. Your slots license keys are registered to your ML and if had to get them again you would go to www.dell.com/ml6000 once there you just need to put in your service tag & serial# & it will provide you your serial # for the slots again.
