PV 132T Firmware Update

Hello;

I have a PV132T im trying to update but I tried to run the IBM LTO-TDX Tape Drive Tool and receive a error " No IBM LTO-TDX Tape Drive were found"

The operating system is a Windows Server 2008R2.

The physical host is a VMware ESXi 5.5.

Currently using Symantec Backup Exec 15 through iSCSI card and cable.

Can anyone advise the proper procedure on updating the firmware on the 132T ? Please help.
Thank you

Hello DrSharepoint,

When you are updating firmware on your PV132T you need to make sure that you stop all Backup Exec services. Once all BUE services have been stopped then you should be able to use the IBM LTO-TDX tool to find the drives & update the firmware.

Also what you can do is if you have configured the RMU (Remote Management unit) you can also update firmware via that as well. If you are going to update via RMU what you need to do once you are logged in is to update the RMU firmware first then you can do the drives and the library firmware. If you have not configured the IP for the RMU or not sure what the IP of the RMU is you can use the front panel to go to the setup menu and see what the IP’s & if needed you can change the IP address. Here is a link to the users guide & if you look on page 33 it has a breakdown of the Operator panel menus. http://downloads.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_powervault/powervault-lto-132t_User%27s%20Guide4_en-us.pdf

Also the default username=admin & default password=password.
