PV100 and flexbackup

I have a PV100 Dat on a 2600 (Tag 9QFNG1J), 24/7 in 4 hour, but before ask the assistance i'd like to know if I can solve the problem my myself.
Operating system: e-smith server.
My errore sounds like this one:
http://contribs.org/modules/pbboard/viewtopic.php?t=23398

I tried to lanch flexbackup -test-tape-drive and i got FAILURE! Problem with tape driver or parameters.
Tried to change $blksize, $pad_blocks, or $mt_blksize, turn buffering off, but still got I/O error.

That's a failure of the dat ir my fault?

The tape I insered into the dat is a new dell tape.
This is my try to sep-up that dat, so it has never worked before.

Thanks
Romeo

I founded that's suggestion in a form regarding mitel and dell server (not exactly the same problem).

Oh, and we only got the PV100T to work by changing the SCSI setting to "narrow".

What that it means? Is a software setting, a bios setting or an hardware setting?
Have I do reboot and access to the bios? Have i to take the server off??

Anyone has an idea to solve my problem?
I'm the only one in the work who is not able to make a PV100 works with linux?
