PV132T: Problems with amanda on FreeBSD 4.8
I don't know if anyone can help with this, but here goes
I am running Amanda on one of my FreeBSD boxes to backup several other FreeBSD boxes.
Most of the time everything runs smoothly but a couple of times a week, I get errors that seem to suggest trouble with the tape library, here is some dmesg output from an Amanda report when the error happened:
(sa0:ahc0:0:1:0): WRITE FILEMARKS. CDB: 10 0 0 0 2 0
(sa0:ahc0:0:1:0): MEDIUM ERROR asc:3b,0
(sa0:ahc0:0:1:0): Sequential positioning error field replaceable unit: 6
(sa0:ahc0:0:1:0): failed to write terminating filemark(s)
(sa0:ahc0:0:1:0): tape is now frozen- use an OFFLINE, REWIND or MTEOM command to clear this state.
Sometimes it will go for a week or two without trouble, and then sometimes it will happen several days in a row.
I am useing the SCSI controller that came with the library.
A little history of our PV132T. We had the LTO1 drive replaced under warranty with a used drive, because the drive thought it had a tape in it, when it did not, that is when these problems started, so I suspect the replacement drive may be faulty. Are there any diagnostics that I can run on the library to verify that the drive is 100% good?
Thanks for you time
Stacy
