Thanks Sam.  Is there a way for me to tell how far along it is in the background initialization?  Right now I just look at the drive lights every once in a while to see if they're still flashing constantly or not, but would be nice to be able to know when it will be done or how far along it is so i can estimate that.

Hello rjo98,

After the background initialization finishes you don’t have to do the regular initialization.  If you delete the Raid 5 & change the raid type then it will do another background Initialization.  You need to wait till the background initializations complete before you can load the OS.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello rjo98,

You should be able to check on the raid controller and it should tell you when it is ready.  Most of the time it only takes an hour or 2 to complete the background Initialization.

Let us know if have any other questions.

I was looking in there, but couldn't see where.  only way i could tell was when i'd go to do an initialize, and it would warn me i cant due to the background one running.  I'd hate to mess it up.  Do you know where in the menus I would see that?

I found that as well, but I don't see in there where it says how to check the status of a background initialization.  Do you see it in there?
