PowerVault Dell MD3260i
Dear,
I'm purchasing new 4 TB Seagate for my MD3260i, is it nesserary to be Dell Certified?
Here's the Disks specifications i'm buying:
529FG 3.5" ST4000NM0023 4TB 7.2K Seagate
6P85J 3.5" ST4000NM0063 4TB 7.2K Seagate

Yes, the Dell MD3k-series SANs will only accept Dell certified drives. These can be recognized by the Dell Enterprise Class Drive logo on the sticker on the drive.
If you take the same model drive, but a retail, or non-Dell branded drive, the MD SAN will not accept it and it won't let you use it.

Hello AhmadStorageman,
As Dev Mgr stated the drives need to have a Dell part# on them & be on the support matrix for your MD3260i. Both the drives that you list are on the support matrix and will be support in your MD3260i.
If the drive is not on the support matrix & doesn’t have a Dell part# then the drive will not be seen & will be marked as bypassed.
