You "should" be able to do this fine with no problems. I have seen some hiccups in the past. Once everything is moved, your configuration on your md1000 might have a foreign configuration set on all the drives. If that is the case, all you will have to do is import the configuration onto the card. What the perc is seeing when there is a foreign config, is that there is raid data on the drives, and importing it just allows the card to use the raid config as its own.

I'd probably run the exact change past Dell. Make sure all FW's are completed before the move.
Where you can get hung up, is that there will be drivers needed for the new system that are not on the old system.
This goes smooth about 50% of the time, mildy irratating about 25% of the time, badly about 15% of the time, and just doesn't work in some cases.
It is these sorts of changes, that makes virtualization and san use so popular these days.
